Max Stossel
Award-winning artist and Founder of Social Awakening: an organization dedicated to helping young people survive and thrive in the modern world.
Before working in this field, Max was a media strategist with an extensive background in social media. He ran social media for big brands, and later worked for a social media company.
He has spent the past 10 years speaking with over a million students, parents, and educators around the world about social media's impact on our lives, and creating resources to help manage that impact.
Zainab Okolo, Ed.D., LCMFT

Dr. Zainab Okolo is a seasoned expert in higher education policy and mental health, dedicating her career to breaking down barriers for students, enabling them to thrive academically and lead fulfilling lives. Currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Policy, Advocacy, and Government Relations at The Jed Foundation, she leverages her extensive experience to strengthen the organization's national and state-level presence.

Dr. Okolo collaborates with external networks to advocate for increased federal, state, and local support for a comprehensive approach to mental health and suicide prevention. As a trauma informed, licensed mental health clinician, Dr. Okolo has provided crucial support to individuals, families, and institutions, emphasizing strategies to overcome stress and anxiety. With over a decade of professional experience in higher education research and student services, she remains a staunch advocate for increased and equitable access to high-quality mental health services for all college-aged students. Dr. Okolo holds a doctorate in education from The George Washington University, a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Syracuse University, and a bachelor's degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. A native of Washington, D.C., her work continues to contribute to advancing inclusive and accessible higher education practices.

Become a Student Supporter!
Mind Out Loud Students are students (ages 13+) who:
Serve as part of a student cohort working to destigmatize mental health
Offer resources and support to peers
Open the conversation surrounding mental wellness
Receive an immersive and collaborative experience that provides professional development, resume-building opportunities, peers, and professional connections.
Student Reps serve on one of six committees that support the mission and pillars of the program; student work includes podcast production, digital design, public event planning, and partnership coordination.
