Register to Empower: Building the Future through Voting

Thursday, January 16, 2024

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM PST

The workshop is in partnership with New Voters. New Voters is a nonpartisan, student-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting civic engagement among high school students across the United States. Founded in 2018 by Jahnavi Rao, it began as a high school club in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, successfully registering over 85% of eligible students for the 2018 midterm elections. Since its inception, New Voters has expanded its reach nationwide, registering over 80,000 students across 40 states and training more than 300 high school students to become change-makers in their communities.

The workshop is being led by Margaux Granath (see headshot attached below). Margaux Granath graduated from the University of Minnesota, magna cum laude, with a B.A. in political science. As an undergraduate, she led First Amendment reforms on campus and assisted in research on threats to civil liberties. She joins New Voters with half a decade of event management, outreach, and youth development experience. Previously, Margaux worked on camp staff at Girl Scouts of Alaska and Girl Scouts of Montana & Wyoming, and at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. Margaux is based in Denver, Colorado where enjoys boxing, cooking, and creating her own board games. She is looking forward to supporting New Voters in its efforts to mobilize a generation of students to vote!
