GRIEF SUCKS: How to Support Ourselves and our Friends who are Grieving

Thursday, February 20, 2025

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM PST

The workshop is in partnership with Experience Camps. Experience Camps, founded in 2009, is a national, no-cost program for grieving children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. Through compassion, connection, and play, Experience Camps allows grieving children to embody a life full of hope and possibility.

With over a decade of experience providing psychosocial support to children and families, Samira will guide us through meaningful discussions on understanding grief and its emotional, physical, and social impacts.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe what grief means.

  • Talk about the ways to support our peers/friends who are grieving.

  • Explore ways to honor our loved one(s) who have died and our own grief.

With over a decade of experience providing psychosocial support to children and families, Samira, along with a member of the Youth Advisory Board, will guide us through meaningful discussions on understanding grief and its emotional, physical, and social impacts. Samira Moosavi is a Clinical Manager at Experience Camps, a national, no-cost program for grieving children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. Samira has dedicated over a decade to providing psychosocial support to children and families. As a Certified Child Life Specialist, she has supported youth in the hospital setting, during natural disasters, and on global medical missions. Her current role allows her to support children and their families, educate the community about grief and loss, and create inclusive grief-informed programming. She is incredibly passionate about creating opportunities where youth can share their voice.
